| 03/03/2010 A visit of Russian governor Mr. Valery Shantsev and his team to Washington DC On March 3th of 2010, the governor of the Nezhigorodsky Region of Russia Mr. Valery Shantsev, along with his team has visited the Russian Cultural Centre in Washington DC. The main purpose of the governor`s visit to RCC was a meeting with leading Russian compatriots of the Greater Washington area. The meeting went as a part of Mr. Shantsev`s official visit to the United States.  The governor’s delegation also included: the Minister of Investment Policy Mr. Dmitry Svatkovsky, the Director of the Department of External, Business and Interregional Relations Mr. Vadim Ivanov, a Representative of Foreign Ministry in Nizhny Novgorod Mr. Sergey Malov and the Director of the Nizhny Novgorod Expo Mr. Valery Barulin among others. The representatives of the Russian Embassy in DC have also attended the meeting, which was led by the head of the Russian Cultural Centre Mr. Evgeniy Agoshkov. The group of Russian compatriots of the greater Washington area was represented by: the directors of RussianDC.com Ms. Yelena Staroselskaya and Mr. Konstantin Khizder, the president of AARCE Ms. Svetlana Sokolova, principals of Russian language schools and studios, heads of religious institutions and owners of private businesses interested in collaboration with Russia.  One of the main purposes of the round table meeting was to establish the further connections between the Washington area and Nizhegorodsky Region of Russia in such areas as business, investing, education, culture and tourism. After the presentations made by Mr. Shantsev and Mr. Svatkovsky, the governor`s team answered the other party questions and exchanged the ideas of collaboration. A little tour of RCC and exchange of the souvenirs ended the meeting. PHOTOS |
