The colorful world of 19th century Russia comes to Washington National Cathedral as Maestro Lewis leads the Society in a triple bill by the era’s leading composers. Be prepared for a few surprises, as special sights and sounds bring the romance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Festival Overture and Taneyev’s rarely performed cantata, John of Damascus to life.

Internationally known opera star Sergei Leiferkus will be joined by Metropolitan Opera soprano Jennifer Welch-Babidge and the gifted young tenor, David Ossenfort for Rachmaninoff’s dramatic setting of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Bells.
